Q: What will my upfront and continuing costs be to use the OFM website?
A: There are no upfront costs to use the OFM website. You can select from our low-cost Growing or Basic plans.
Q: Is there a minimum sales requirement to use OFM? What about off seasons?
A: OFM’s price model for start up and small farms is 5% of sales on the Growing plan. You can turn off customer sales during off months with the Basic plan so you will not incur any charges during those months.
Q: Is OFM (Online Farm Markets) mobile friendly?
A: Yes. OFM ajusts its display to fit nicely on narrow screen devices. You can add or edit products, check on customer orders, add to or subtract items from orders, send customer communications, check or edit delivery or pickup information, check financial details, and more using your smart phone or computer.
Q: Can OFM handle variable weight items?
A: Yes. OFM allows farmers to designate any item as having variable weights, for example, chickens, cuts of meat, cheese, cabbages. The customer is able to check out with an estimated weight. When the customer’s order is processed and exact weights are determined, these are easily entered on the site, and the order closes and the customer is charged the exact amount.
Q: We already have a website for our farm. Why would I look into OFM?
A: OFM provides a smooth running customer-to-farmer ordering tool as well as a farmer-focused inventory management and financial detail-processing tool. Our site may be linked to your site to include our functionality into your current site.
Q: Can I hold off on charging customer credit cards until the order period closes?
A: Yes. OFM is set up to charge customer credit cards once the orders close and the packing and processing of the orders begin.
Q: Can I include products from other farms?
A: Yes. OFM is designed to keep track of items you are selling for other farmers or producers. Designate any user as a Producer, and assign the tasks you allow the producer to perform. For example, a producer may upload their own photos, product descriptions, and quantities, and list their wholesale price to you. You designate the retail price, and designate their product as available for sale. On your shopping cart page, customers are able to sort by product or producer. After orders close, you will have separate pick and payment lists for individual producers as well as separate packing lists for individual customers.
